Job Summary:

The Human Resources Director will provide strategic leadership and direction for the Human Resources (HR) department, with locations in KS and OK. This role is responsible for ensuring alignment with the organization's goals and objectives. This role will oversee the development and implementation of HR strategies, policies, and programs that enhance the organization's ability to attract, retain, and develop talent. The HR Director will also ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and foster a positive work environment that supports the organization’s culture and values.

Essential Duties:

Strategic HR Leadership:

  • Develops and implements HR strategies that foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace and aligns with the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to identify HR priorities, initiatives, and solutions that drive business success.
  • Leads organizational development initiatives, including change management, workforce planning, and succession planning.
  • Acts as a strategic partner to drive cultural transformation, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives by monitoring DEI metrics, tracking progress towards DEI initiatives and identifying areas for improvement. 

Culture and Employee Engagement:

  • Encourage a positive organizational culture that fosters engagement, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Promotes a healthy work culture free from harassment and microaggressions.
  • Leads employee engagement initiatives, including surveys, feedback mechanisms, and action planning to enhance the employee experience.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Uses language that is respectful and considerate of different backgrounds and identities.
  • Facilitates effective communication between HR and other departments, ensuring alignment of HR strategies with organizational goals.
  • Serves as a key advisor to department leadership to increase awareness and accountability for diversity, equity, inclusion and HR-related matters by providing insights and recommendations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Leads and manages the HR department, including Associates, and other HR team members.
  • Oversees the recruitment, onboarding, and development of HR staff, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and mentorship to HR team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Conducts regular performance evaluations, sets goals, and provides constructive feedback to enhance team performance.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues, ensuring consistency and adherence to company policies and legal requirements.

Talent Management:

  • Oversees the talent acquisition process, including workforce planning, recruitment, and selection and onboarding to ensure TW hires and retains candidates with diverse perspectives for key positions.
  • Develop and implement strategies to actively source and attract candidates from underrepresented backgrounds including identifying diverse talent pools, drafting inclusive job descriptions, and partnering with organizations focused on attracting diverse candidates.
  • Review recruitment practices for bias which includes analyzing recruitment processes to identify and eliminate potential barriers for diverse candidates.
  • Implements and monitors performance management systems to ensure continuous performance improvement and employee development.
  • Develops and manages leadership development and training programs to build a robust diverse talent pipeline.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Analyzes and develops competitive compensation and benefits programs to attract and retain top talent.
  • Ensures compliance with pay equity standards by conducting regular audits and adjusting compensation as necessary.
  • Manages relationships with benefit providers, negotiates contracts, and oversees the administration of employee benefits programs.

Employee Relations and Compliance:

  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including FMLA, ADA, EEO, and labor laws.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors HR policies and procedures which reflect a commitment to DEI and to ensure legal compliance.
  • Investigates and resolves employee relations issues, including harassment, discrimination, and workplace misconduct.

HR Operations:

  • Uses an equity lens in decision making related to fiscal, resource allocation, policy, programming, hiring and operational matters. 
  • Develops and manages the HR budget, including forecasting and financial planning for HR initiatives.
  • Oversees the management of HRIS and other HR-related systems, ensuring data accuracy, security, and compliance.
  • Leads the development of HR metrics and reporting to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and inform decision-making.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned, ensuring alignment with the overall goals and objectives of the organization.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness and ability to work with and serve persons from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior leadership.
  • In-depth knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, and mediating skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic HR initiatives that drive organizational success.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing HR budgets, including budgets for benefits programs for 50+ employees, ensuring cost-effective and strategic allocation of resources to support organizational goals.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in HRIS, talent management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to maintain the highest levels of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 to 8 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a senior HR leadership role.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or other relevant HR certification preferred.
  • Must have experience with Kansas (KS) and Oklahoma (OK) state employment laws, along with a solid understanding of federal employment laws. Multi-state experience is preferred.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift objects up to 20 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to travel between office locations as needed.
  • Ability to navigate multiple floors and departments within the organization’s facilities.
  • Job duties may require work and availability outside normal working hours.
  • May require flexibility to adjust work schedule from time to time to work early or later than regular schedule.
