Supervisor: Clinic Director
Location: Wichita Kansas Clinic
Responsibilities:
As a Clinical Assistant, you will support healthcare providers by performing administrative and clinical duties. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to assisting with patient care, conducting routine procedures, and managing administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the healthcare facility. Under the direct supervision of the Clinic Director, Director of Nursing (DON), and Medical Director, the role of the Clinical Assistant at Trust Women may include assisting the physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and patients before, during, and after exams and procedures.
Clinical Duties:
- Assist healthcare providers in patient examinations, procedures, and treatments (including blood draws).
- Process laboratory specimens, including blood and urine samples; conduct tests according to CLIA and OSHA standards and regulations.
- Prepare and sterilize medical instruments and equipment for procedures, maintaining logs and inventory of sterile instruments, and use of autoclave.
- Provide patient education on medication, procedures, and follow-up care.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms. ensuring cleanliness and organization.
Administrative duties:
- Greeting patients and assisting with the check-in process, verifying insurance demographic information.
- Schedule patient appointments and manage the appointment calendar daily.
- Coordinate referrals.
- Handle phone calls, address inquiries, and assist patients and visitors.
- Maintain and update electronic health records with accurate and current patient information.
- Assist with coding and billing processes, including insurance claims submission.
- Manage and organize medical supplies and equipment inventory.
- Collaborate with the pharmacy to fulfill the prescription request.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Securely receive cash and processes credit cards according to policies and procedures.
- Maintain patient confidentially.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong organizational and planning skills

- COVID-19 Vaccinated or willingness to obtain within four weeks of hire.
- Excellent reading and comprehension skills.
- Work experience and/or training in the healthcare field preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Excellent computer and phone skills.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-stress environment, ideally in a healthcare setting.
- Able to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a healthcare environment.
- Able to communicate effectively with patients and all members of the health care team.
- Medical Assistant and/or Certified Nurse Assistant certification preferred.
- Reproductive health care, gender-affirming care, work with people who use drugs professional or lived experience preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred but not required.
- LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, managers, clinicians, patients, and the public. Bilingual fluency in written and oral Spanish and English is preferred but not required.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical instructions.
- REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS AND PRINCIPAL CONTACTS: Reports to the Clinic Director, DON, and the Medical Director. Work involves extensive contact with staff, patients and external vendors.
Physical Requirements
- The Clinic Assistant has the physical stamina to meet the requirements of the Job Description, including frequent walking, bending, sitting, standing, and lifting. Appropriate safety transfer techniques and body mechanics are used when transporting patients or equipment, sometimes more than 50 pounds. Also understands and accepts the possibility of exposure to environmental elements, internal and external, which may affect the workplace, such as infectious disease, chemical and/or chemical fumes, dust, noise, physical injury from an out-of-control patient, and adverse effects of inclement weather, which may occur.
