On July 5, the Kansas Supreme Court chose to strike down not one, but two abortion related amendments, reaffirming the Kansas majority’s opinion on the right to abortions.

With its action, the Court rightly rejected and discredited damaging legislation that lacked a credible foundation and would have stripped pregnant persons of their bodily autonomy and reproductive justice.
In August 2022, 59% of Kansans rejected an amendment to the state constitution that said there was no “right to abortion,” and reaffirmed a person’s fundamental right to bodily autonomy, including a pregnant person’s right to abortion.
